Copyright Crash Course I: Using Copyrighted Materials the Simple Way In-Person

Wondering about using copyrighted materials in your teaching or publishing? The two-part Copyright Crash Course can help answer your questions and make you feel more confident about properly using copyrighted materials. The two part course is designed so that you can participate in either Part I, Part II, or both parts. Both parts of the course will repeat on Friday, January 27 and Tuesday, January 31.

Copyright Crash Course I: Using Copyrighted Materials the Simple Way (1/27 and 1/31 at 3pm)

This session will cover the basics of copyright law, the public domain, using materials already licensed for use either through the library or Creative Commons, and seeking copyright permissions.

Copyright Crash Course II: Using Copyrighted Materials Under Fair Use (1/27 and 1/31 at 4pm)

This session will provide an in-depth look at the fair use provision in copyright law and how it can be applied to using copyrighted materials in teaching and research. Participants will work through examples to help make them feel comfortable applying fair use.
